Increasing population and domestic water demand have created a need for sustainable water management and wastewater reuse. Greywater from bathing, washing, laundry, and kitchen activities can be treated and reused for non-potable purposes such as gardening and irrigation. This review focuses on a simple, lowcost greywater recycling system using locally available materials such as gravel, sand, activated charcoal, coconut-shell charcoal, and cloth filters. A multi-stage filtration process can help remove suspended particles, turbidity, colour, and organic pollutants. Proper source segregation and treatment can reduce freshwater consumption, wastewater generation, and groundwater dependence. Water-quality parameters such as pH, TDS, turbidity, BOD, and COD are important for evaluating treatment efficiency. Overall, household greywater recycling provides a simple and sustainable method for water conservation and wastewater management.
